Get Counseling and/or Coaching

What does counseling/coaching look like? What’s your philosophy?

While I do have a master’s degree in counseling and my LPCA license in NC, I have a slightly different approach to traditional counseling.  I generally consider myself a unique blend of a counseling and a coaching approach.

The purpose, for me, of grief counseling/coaching is to provide support, encouragement, love, and understanding as you redefine you life after a loss or major life change.

My purpose is not about discovering what is wrong with you. Nothing is wrong with you.

Grief counseling/coaching for me is not about diagnosis or medication. However crazy the grief process can make one feel, you aren’t crazy. It’s normal.  Really, you are fine.

My counseling/coaching style does not include long, involved discussions about your past – or trying to understand your past. It is about discovering how you want your life – and yourself – to be and then how you can create that. And, chances are, a-has and understanding of your past will occur naturally as you move forward.

Grief counseling/coaching is about moving through the pain of loss and rediscovering a life of joy and happiness.

What I Offer:

Most importantly, I offer support, understanding, and love as you move through the changes in your life.

I hold a vision for you of light when things feel overwhelming and dark. I hold a vision for you of laughter and joy when it seems all you feel is confusion and pain. I hold the space for you to move from where you are to where you want to be.

I support you. I encourage you. I offer new perspectives. I give you tools and strategies to make sense of chaos. And, yes, I challenge you to move forward.

I give you a safe place to be. A safe place to move through your process in your own way, to feel whatever you feel, and to say whatever you need to say.

Who Do I Work With?

Primarily, I work with those who have experienced loss or major life change and are going through the grieving process. Typical losses include death of a loved one, relationship break-ups, a traumatic event,  job loss, major medical or physical change, moving, and many other life changes.

I work children ages 12 and up as well as adults.  Teenagers and young adult women make up the bulk of my caseload, but I have and do see a wide variety of clients.

I only work with those who choose to work with me and are ready to move forward.

How Does It Work?

Sessions are generally done in person in  your home, a beautiful outdoor setting such as a local park, or in my home office.  If you are not in the Asheville, NC area and would still like to work with me, Skype sessions may be arranged. Appointments can be once a week, every other week, once a month, etc. as determined by client.

A 1-hour session is $50.  A set of 4 sessions may be purchased for a reduced cost of $175.  Payments are paid prior to or at the time of service.

How Do I Get Started?

To get started, call 828 – 713 – 3350. Please leave a voicemail if I don’t answer!  I will return your call as soon as possible.  You can also email me at emilylong01@gmail.com.  If you email and I don’t respond within 24 hours, please try emailing again or calling – your message may have gotten lost in my spam folder!

And I know taking that first step for something like this can be scary and uncertain…especially if you’re not sure about the whole counseling and/or coaching thing. I totally get it and I do everything I can to make it easy & non-overwhelming for you. Just schedule the first appointment and see how it goes. There’s no obligation to continue.

Take that first step.  Email me emilylong01@gmail.com or call 828 – 713 – 3350.
