Emily

Emily Long lives a very full (aka busy) life!  Emily works in private practice specializing in grief and bereavement with women, teens, and children.  She also works as an intensive in-home services lead therapist for a local Asheville, NC company.  AND she serves as the co-Director for the Light of Wisdom School in Asheville.

Emily earned her master’s degree in Community Agency Counseling from East Tennessee State University and is an Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) in North Carolina.  Emily has experience with diverse populations in standard and alternative mental health settings that include inpatient hospitals and outpatient clinics, crisis intervention, in the schools, and on a therapeutic ropes course doing individual, couple, family, and group therapy.  She has worked with children, adolescents and adults.

Emily served as the President of a chapter of the Tennessee Counseling Association and has spoken nationally on the topics of mental health and grief.

Emily has a passion for being a grief support provider and promoting the education of effective grief support techniques.  Her own experiences with grief and loss have inspired her to study the art of healing grief for more than 10 years. Emily continues to study grief and healing, constantly seeking out new, useful, and creative ways to help people move through grief.  She loves her work in supporting all who experience grief and is especially passionate about working with teens experiencing grief.

Outside of her work in grief support and counseling, Emily is a published poet and writer living in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC.  She loves to hike, travel, read, and take as many trips to the beach as possible.
